GNUPlot treats software as a powerful free application of GNU that serves to generate graphs of functions and sets of interactive information in two and three dimensions (2D and 3D). His potency allows to work both with functions (of 2 and 3 variables) and with sets of information. The representation of the information admits an enormous quantity of formats and dispositions (curves, surfaces, outlines, vectors, bars diagrams, etc.).
GNUPlot is compatible with the operating systems UNIX, IBM OS/2, MS Windows, TWO, Macintosh, VMS, Atari and many other platforms. The software has copyright but it is of free distribution therefore it is not necessary to pay for his use. This application developed in 1986 with the idea of helping scientists and students to visualize mathematical functions and information. Nevertheless, since then it has been evolving little by little and new functionalities have been added to him.
GNUPlot supports multiply exit formats: for screen, for printer or for file (eps, fig, jpeg, Latex, metafont, pbm, pdf, png, postscript, svg...).
